In 2004, Grizzly Jig Company, in collaboration with the Missouri Department of Conservation, began a project to benefit youth in our area. We acquired the rights to develop a 43 acre youth lake just outside the city limits of Caruthersville, Missouri.
The lake will be open to youths age 15 years or younger, certified handicap and persons 65 years and older. Persons between the ages of 16 and 64 may fish if they are accompanied by a youth 15 or younger. The lake will be patrolled by the local game warden so that it will not be abused.
Our family strives on passing the love of the outdoors to our children, and we would like to pass that opportunity on to other youth in the area. The lakes primary purpose will be to teach area youth about nature and the sport of fishing in a safe environment. It will be a great place to spend a leisurely summer afternoon, and is a great way to give back to our future outdoorsmen. Plans are to have the lake open to the public by Spring 2008.
The lake is being established through grants, personal donations and fund raising efforts of Grizzly Jig Company. If you or your business would like to make a donation please contact Grizzly Jig at 800-305-9866.
